Committee approves $4.7 million appropriation from landfill development and post‑closure fund for Kersey Valley Road relocation

Budget Performance Director Steven Heuerlich asked the committee to appropriate funds from the landfill development and closure/post‑closure fund for the Kersey Valley Road relocation project.
Heuerlich said construction on the Kersey Valley Road realignment, which enables future landfill expansion, was completed in November 2024. He said follow‑up invoices remained and the total appropriation requested is a little over $4,700,000. He explained this fund is used for capital projects related to new cells, expansion and closure/post‑closure costs for the landfill; the entry being requested will reimburse the landfill operating fund, from which the project was originally paid.
A motion to approve the appropriation was made, seconded and passed. Heuerlich said funding is available in the landfill development and closure/post‑closure fund and fielded no further questions during the committee discussion.
