The Marion County Alcoholic Beverage Board approved a series of routine transfers and license renewals on June 2, and continued several applications that lacked required documents or had active remonstrations.
Among the approvals the board granted were a transfer of the permit for the Fort Harrison Reuse Authority to be held in escrow pending tenant selection, renewals for Goodfellas Pizzeria (545 Massachusetts Ave.), Coach's Tavern (28 S. Pennsylvania St.), and several neighborhood restaurants and package liquor transfers associated with Central Indiana Package Group (doing business as Dave's Fine Wine and Spirits at multiple addresses). The board also approved renewals for a number of Marion County bars and restaurants that appeared on the docket with no active violations.
Several items were continued to the board's July meeting. The applications for 1105 S. Harding Street (a license that had remonstrators present) and a small number of renewals with unresolved violations were continued to allow the applicant and remonstrators to meet or for applicants to supply missing paperwork (zoning affidavit, tax clearance, or certified mailing lists). The Ice Bar Lounge renewal and a few other renewals with pending violation follow-ups were continued as noted on the record.
Board secretary/excise officer Amy Seunier reminded applicants that four items are required at the time of hearing for a new or transfer application to be heard: the ATC permanent-advertising affidavit (posted 10 days), notice to property owners and neighborhood organizations, the Metropolitan Development zoning affidavit, and the Marion County tax clearance from the Indiana Department of Revenue. Applicants lacking those documents were routinely continued to the July meeting.
Motions on routine transfers and renewals were typically made and seconded from the board bench and recorded as "aye" during roll calls. For items that were approved, each was entered into the minutes with the motion carried. The board accepted continuance requests in several cases when remonstrators were present or applicants asked for more time to assemble required documentation.
The board also handled several previously filed violations and renewal hearings, imposing conditions or in some cases shorter renewal terms where the board deemed corrective monitoring appropriate.
The board adjourned after moving administrative renewals and scheduling outstanding items for the July 7 meeting.
