Mayor Pro Tem Bridal Moore convened the High Point Finance Committee and the panel voted to approve the annual renewal of the city’s Cisco Duo multi‑factor authentication license.
Virginia, the city’s assistant IT director, told the committee the Cisco Duo MFA system “helps keep the city infrastructure safe by ensuring only authorized employees can access city resources” and that the renewal terms remain unchanged from the prior fiscal year.
The assistant IT director recommended the council approve the renewal through Art Technology Consultants under purchasing agreement NCPA number 1‑96 and requested authorization for necessary signatures. A council member asked whether the license quantity being purchased was 1,820; the assistant IT director said that number reflects city employees and outside contractors who need access. The committee had no further questions, a motion to approve the item was made and seconded, and the motion passed.
The item was presented as a routine annual renewal; the assistant IT director said the scope of coverage (employees plus outside contractors) remains the basis for the license count. No additional funding source or contract term changes were described during the committee discussion.
Committee members said they had no further questions and the committee approved the recommendation for council action.
