WFRC requests safety improvements log and will present annual safety report to council

WFRC staff said the region's comprehensive Safety Action Plan has moved from a report into active implementation and that the agency will present an annual safety report to the regional council next month.
Kip (WFRC) told the committee that while 2024 saw a slight decline in fatalities relative to the prior five-year trend, serious-injury crashes increased. As part of ongoing safety tracking, WFRC sent committee members a short form to document safety elements included in recently completed projects and asked jurisdictions to return the form by June 6 so staff can compile a log for the council presentation.
Kip said the goal is to keep safety in the forefront of planning and implementation work; staff will use the collected project-level safety documentation to demonstrate progress and to identify areas needing further focus. He provided his email (kip@wfrc.org) for questions and assistance completing the form.
The committee did not take formal action on the item but members were asked to complete the form by the stated deadline.
