What the board approved Administrators asked the board to approve offers for applicants numbered 1 through 76, contingent on available space, grade level and special education or related services required by any Individualized Education Program (IEP). The recommendation followed the district's lottery and review process after the open enrollment application window.
Denials and reasons The administration recommended denial for three applicants (identified in the packet as numbers 12, 53 and 64) because of reasons set out in district policy: overcapacity at the requested grade level or school, required special education services not available at the requested location, age/eligibility constraints, habitual truancy or expulsion in the current or prior two years.
Board action A motion to accept the administration's recommendations (approving applicants 1—6 and denying the specified applications) was made and seconded; the board approved the recommendations by voice vote. Administrators said they will notify families of offers and denials and proceed with enrollment processes.
