The Macomb Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved the hire of Lauren Marshall to the Plan Review Analyst position at its May 14 meeting. Staff said the hire follows a competitive recruitment and a pre-employment relocation agreement intended to expedite her start.
Mr. Van Tiflin, speaking for the Planning Department, said the township received 24 applications for the plan review analyst position and held interviews on May 2. He said an interview committee that included Josh Box, Jeff Tabaka and himself recommended Lauren Marshall, who began as a township intern in 2021 and has public- and private-sector experience. "If it's approved tonight, she would start on June 16," Van Tiflin said.
Van Tiflin explained Marshall currently lives out of state and the township proposed a relocation payment as a pre-employment agreement to bring her onboard earlier. He said without the relocation offer the candidate—s start date would be in August and the township would continue paying consulting fees to cover plan reviews until the new hire began.
The motion to hire Marshall was moved by Treasurer's Law and supported by Trustee Oliver; the board recorded the motion as passing unanimously. The board did not state the dollar amount of the relocation payment during the discussion; the memo in the agenda packet was cited as containing further details.
