Board approves property-manager authority, jurisdictional transfer work and letters backing two grant applications

Klamath County’s Board of Commissioners approved several administrative actions and letters of support during the meeting, including delegating signature authority for real-estate closings, initiating a jurisdictional transfer process at the request of a town, and approving grant applications or letters of support.

The board authorized the county property manager, Rick Brown, to sign documents to complete real-estate transactions that the board has previously approved. The authorization was described by staff as a procedural step to avoid repeatedly returning to the board for final signatures on transactions already approved in principle. The motion to authorize the property manager passed by voice vote.

The board also approved by motion directing the property manager to begin a jurisdictional transfer requested by the Town of Peninsula; the county’s property manager will coordinate with the town. The motion was seconded and passed by voice vote, with the chair voting "aye." Staff said the property manager will follow up with the town.

Separately, commissioners approved a letter of support for an illegal marijuana market enforcement (IME) grant application and authorized submission of a Spire grant application to fund a new snow cap for search-and-rescue operations. Both actions passed by board motion and voice vote.

Board members said delegating signature authority and initiating the jurisdictional transfer were administrative measures intended to streamline processes. Staff will report back to the board as the jurisdictional transfer and property transactions progress and when grant decisions are known.
