TAG Houston honors longtime board members, highlights fellowship and intern program

TAG Houston recognized three longtime board members and highlighted an expanded fellowship and intern program at its State of Mobility luncheon.
Co-chairs Jim Russ and Greg Reyes presented honors to Jack Drake, Dr. Carol Abel Lewis and Jeff Collins for decades of service to the transportation advocacy group. Jack Drake was recognized for 23 years leading the North Houston District; Dr. Lewis was introduced as a transportation professor and emeritus director of the Center for Transportation and Training and Research at Texas Southern University; and Jeff Collins was noted for more than 40 years in engineering, planning and public-works projects.
TAG Executive Director Christina Cabral said the organization has "upped" its fellowship program in the last two years and named several recent fellows and interns, including Fulbright scholars and University of Houston graduates who are headed to law school. Cabral thanked host and sponsor organizations and noted the event was sold out.
The presentations included short videos and photo opportunities on stage; the co-chairs encouraged audience members to join TAG to strengthen regional advocacy for transportation funding.

The recognitions preceded Mayor John Whitmire's address to the luncheon. No formal organizational votes or policy decisions were taken during the recognitions.
