District Accountability Committee reports wider SAC outreach, mixed survey views on spending

The Adams 12 District Accountability Committee (DAC) presented its year-end report May 21, saying it strengthened school-level engagement and obtained community feedback on spending tied to the district's Unified Improvement Plan (UIP).
Tara Raju, DAC president, told the board the committee grew to 36 voting members this year and that DAC liaisons increased SAC engagement south of 120th Avenue from 3 schools to 12 schools. The committee said six liaisons attended more than one school's SAC meeting.
The DAC reported 48 completed responses to its spending survey. The committee summarized key findings: about 70% of respondents said they were familiar with their school improvement plan and roughly 60% with the district's UIP. Regarding the district's first major improvement strategy (rigorous, grade-level instruction), 72% said they could see results of spending on that strategy; 64% said the amount of spending was 'just right' and roughly 20% said it was too little.
For the second major improvement strategy (fostering academic and social belonging), 68% agreed they could see results of related spending; about 60% said spending was adequate, while roughly 20% said it was insufficient. Comments collected with survey responses stressed equity, individualized learning, and extracurricular opportunities as areas parents want prioritized.
DAC members said the committee will continue UIP monitoring next year, focus on improving middle-school survey responses, and refine the spending survey for clarity. Tara Raju, Claudia Anderson (DAC vice president) and Jessica Greco (DAC secretary) credited district staff for translation services and for helping arrange principal introductions for SAC liaison outreach.
Speakers highlighted the DAC's plans to move beyond monitoring toward recommending UIP changes based on trend analysis of school-level data and suggested future work could include selecting exemplar schools to study districtwide practices.
