Council standardizes high-capacity lifting gear for Fire Department, authorizes purchases

The Glendale City Council unanimously adopted a resolution on May 20 establishing a standard specification for high-capacity lifting equipment manufactured by Paratech Incorporated and authorized the Fire Department to procure equipment and supplies from that manufacturer.
Fire staff explained the air lifting bags and associated hardware are used by all three engine companies and the urban search-and-rescue apparatus for vehicle and structural stabilization, precision lifting and other technical rescue tasks. The department described the move as standardization to improve interoperability and training, and to simplify maintenance and spare-parts stock.
There were no public speakers on the item and council voted by roll call to approve the resolution and the purchase authorization.
Next steps: Fire Department procurement will proceed under the adopted standardization policy and equipment will be distributed to units as supplies become available.
