A public hearing at the Columbus City Council meeting on May 19 considered an application from Janille E. Caleb LLC doing business as Tuyo E. Mio for a retail class I liquor license for premises at 1267 20 Sixth Avenue, with Daniel Betancourt Romero listed as manager.
The applicant and a companion speaker identified the property’s address and said the owner would operate the facility. One council member noted the previous business at the site had neighborhood issues including trash, and said he hoped the new operator would be a better neighbor. The council voted to recommend approval to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.
No recorded opposition spoke at the hearing. The council moved to recommend approval to the state commission; that recommendation was recorded in council action and will be forwarded to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for final licensing determination.
The council closed the public hearing and approved the motion to recommend the license. Final licensing remains subject to the state commission’s review and approval.
