Council approves county liquid-fuel application and publishes property-maintenance code update for public notice

The Saint Marys City Council on May 19 approved two administrative items by voice vote: an annual application for county liquid fuels aid and publication of an ordinance to update the city’s property‑maintenance code references.
Council approved the application for county aid to liquid fuels tax funds for $7,000; those funds will be used to purchase crushed stone for road maintenance, the manager said. The motion to approve the resolution came from Councilmember Jerry and was seconded by Shane; the council voted ‘‘aye’’ and the motion passed.
The council also voted to publish for public notice an ordinance amending the city’s code to align references to the International Property Maintenance Code with the current standard of the International Code Council (ICC). Staff explained that prior references cited the BOCA code and a mix of older standards; the proposed publication would update the city’s chapter to reflect the ICC 2021 edition and state adoption history. Councilmember Shane moved to publish the ordinance and Stephen seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
No ordinance number was assigned at the May 19 meeting; staff described the action as a motion to publish the ordinance for public notice and to begin the publication process. Council also approved the routine minutes from the April 21 meeting earlier in the session by a motion of Ned, seconded by Tony.
