City staff reported Jan. 21 that the Washington Terrace advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system is in the final coding and integration stage and that a test portal for staff should be available in the coming weeks.
Staff said the AMI meters are functioning but that the customer-facing portal requires custom coding and integration with the city’s billing and accounting systems (the transcript references the billing platform “Cassell”). City administrator Tom said staff will first test the portal internally, attempt to find and fix problems, and then invite a small group of residents to participate in a broader beta test to check real-time water-usage displays and portal functionality.
The city emphasized the work is not "plug and play," noting the need for reconciliation between meter data, billing and customer access. No formal timeline beyond "a couple of weeks" for an internal test was provided; staff said they will report back with testing results and a schedule for wider resident access.
