The Office of Open Space, Recreation and Historic Preservation presented a commissioner-sponsored resolution describing a new program to install semi-permanent platforms in Union County parks that will display interchangeable stories in English and Spanish.
Administrator Durbin Drake (presented as the department contact) said the structures are semi-permanent platforms that can hold rotating story panels, initially in English and Spanish, with the county planning to start the program with about four installations. Commissioners expressed support for the idea during the agenda-setting session.
The presentation was informational and the resolution will be placed on the regular meeting agenda for formal consideration. The county did not provide project costs, installation schedules or a full language expansion plan during the agenda-setting discussion.
