County increases youth summer work slots to 485 through state grant administered by United Way

Union County’s Department of Economic Development told commissioners it is amending the youth work experience program to serve 485 participants this summer, up from a previous count of 480, under a state grant administered locally by the United Way.
Deputy County Manager and Director of Economic Development Amy Wagner said the increase is the result of a grant from the New Jersey Workforce Development Board and that the county awarded a contract to the United Way to administer the program on the county's behalf. Wagner said the resolution before the board changes only the number of participants served by the program; the presentation did not include additional budget details beyond the grant origin.
Commissioners thanked staff for the program; no formal vote on the resolution was recorded during the agenda-setting session, and the resolution will be considered on the regular meeting agenda.
