Board authorizes CEO to finalize amendment to Uptony agreement to extend fleet tech assistance

The Silicon Valley Clean Energy board on Feb. 12 authorized the CEO to finalize and sign an amendment to the agreement with the contractor that provides fleet electrification technical assistance (agenda item 1H).
SVCE staff described the program as a free service for public- and private-fleet owners that delivers engineered site plans, electrical feasibility studies and stamped drawings intended to support fleet electrification projects and comply with forthcoming state fleet-transition requirements. Staff said additional requests for the service exceeded the program’s initial budget and that the amendment would allow SVCE to provide assistance to more fleets.
Why it matters: Fleet electrification can require detailed electrical engineering and site planning before projects can move forward; staff said the agency does not have in-house capacity to produce the engineering deliverables. Directors who asked questions said they pulled the item from the consent calendar to ensure the board and public understood the use of public funds and how the work helps member jurisdictions and private fleet operators.
Board action: Director Barbadillo moved to authorize the CEO to finalize and execute the amendment; Director Wallia seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
