Resident asks Osage County Commission to designate truck route to protect township gravel road

A resident who identified himself as Reginald told the Osage County Commission that commercial carriers are using a township gravel road as a shortcut to the county transfer station, causing accelerated wear and maintenance costs for local taxpayers.
“I've read the state statute or laws for transfer stations, and it… says that there is supposed to be a well maintained road going in there,” Reginald told commissioners. He asked the commission to create a dedicated truck route with signage and to pursue enforcement against carriers that do not follow it.
Commissioners said the matter will require additional research and cooperation with the sheriff's office and the commission attorney. One commissioner said they would put the item on a future agenda and consult Sheriff Ryan and staff to determine what steps — such as a resolution, signage, or enforcement — would be required.
No formal action was taken during the meeting. Commissioners told the resident the county would gather information on road length, regulatory authority and costs, and bring a proposal back for consideration at a future meeting.
