Oldham County Fiscal Court reappointed Jim Silliman as the county road engineer and approved several routine administrative items, including a renewed corporate agreement with the YMCA and payment of county bills, at a special early-January meeting.
Tina (county staff) presented the YMCA corporate-rate renewal, which continues the existing benefit that offers a discounted membership arrangement for county employees. Tina said about 17 employees participate and that reimbursements to employees for use of the wellness program totaled just under $6,000 during the first three quarters of the prior year. The agreement has two parts, Tina explained: the county pays a $10-per-employee monthly fee to secure the corporate terms, and participating employees may receive a reimbursement of up to $54 a month if they meet the attendance requirement (eight visits). The court moved, seconded and approved the renewal by voice vote.
Pat (county staff) asked about timing for vendor payments; the court approved the payables by motion and voice vote but staff warned weather delays could push some mailings to Monday.
On personnel, the court reappointed Jim Silliman as county road engineer with a term to expire 01/21/2029; the motion was moved, seconded and carried. In dispatch, the court accepted the retirement of Amberly Green (effective the 24th of this month) and appointed Gregory Beck as assistant director of dispatch at an annual salary of $82,500, effective the 17th of this month. That appointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Magistrate Hawkins raised a procedural concern about the dispatch appointment, saying the county's administrative code does not explicitly require public posting for such positions and that the court should consider directing the HR committee to establish a posting policy so internal candidates and others have notice. Tina replied that the vacancy previously had been posted when the prior promotion occurred and that the current candidates are experienced dispatchers; court members suggested the HR committee could review posting timelines.
All routine motions described above passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
