Englewood readies Little Dry Creek redevelopment with consultant-led study, limited city funds available

Englewood staff told the Parks and Recreation Commission Feb. 12 that planning work for the Little Dry Creek corridor and adjacent downtown parcels will resume, with a consultant-led design process this summer and public outreach at community events.
Staff said the project area had received a prior design study two years ago but lacked funding for construction. The city now has roughly $1.3 million in city capital program funds available to devote across citywide projects and said the Englewood Downtown Development Authority (EDDA) has additional funding to contribute for the Little Dry Creek initiative. An earlier $4 million concept for the corridor was not fully funded, staff said; the redesigned effort will be sized to the available funding.
Planned outreach includes consultant attendance at public events, including a nearby music festival, to gather community feedback on how residents and businesses want the corridor to look and function. Staff said major construction is unlikely this year given current funding and permitting needs; any construction timing will depend on community feedback, cost estimates and available funding.
Staff said they will coordinate with businesses and EDDA during the planning process and return to the commission with consultation timelines and outreach schedules.
