Council finds annexation petition in substantial compliance, schedules public hearing

Aurora City Council on Feb. 10 found a petition for annexation of a 2.589-acre parcel near the southeast corner of Section 2 and the northeast corner of Section 11 to be in substantial compliance with state requirements and set a public hearing for March 24.
Justin Andrews, project manager with the Office of Development Assistance, told the council the parcel (owned by Triple Creek Capital LLC) meets contiguity requirements and falls within the city’s annexation boundary. The initial zoning ordinance for the site will be presented to council in a later meeting and must follow the city’s comprehensive plan, Andrews said.
The council voted to accept the petition’s substantial-compliance finding and start the annexation process. The action was taken as Item 15A (Resolution 2025-18); the motion passed unanimously as recorded.
