Planning commission recommends amendments to Achieve Shawnee comprehensive plan; council to consider Feb. 10

Shawnee — The city’s proposed edits to the Achieve Shawnee comprehensive plan — limited, high-level amendments affecting two of the plan’s six chapters — were recommended for approval by the Shawnee Planning Commission on a 9-1 vote, the commission reported at the Jan. 27 council committee meeting.
Community Development Director Doug Allman presented the proposed changes, which the city describes as clarifying edits intended to provide additional direction as Shawnee grows. The planning commission’s recommendation means the Shawnee City Council will consider the proposed amendments at its next regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, beginning at 6 p.m. in council chambers at Shawnee City Hall.
City staff described the edits as high-level and limited in scope; they do not affect four of the plan’s six chapters. The council committee discussion was presented as a preview; no final vote on the comprehensive-plan amendments occurred on Jan. 27.
