House adopts resolution commending Air Force Reserve medical team for Maui wildfire mental-health support

The Hawaii House of Representatives adopted House Resolution 84 by voice vote, commending the United States Air Force Reserve Command 620 fourth Aeromedical Staging Squadron Medical Operations Flight for providing mental-health support to survivors of the Lahaina wildfires.

The resolution, offered and moved for adoption by Representative Perrick, recognizes members of the Air Force team and lists local partner organizations that worked with the unit during the response. "I move to adopt the resolution," Perrick said when presenting the measure. Representative Cochran seconded the motion; "I second the motion," she said. Members approved the resolution by voice vote.

The resolution named specific service members and said those on the ground providing support in Maui included Mayor Eric Steadley, Captain Nita Cooney, Master Sergeant Tatiana Absolo and Staff Sergeant Anita Legobillo. It also cited the team's partnerships with the Department of Human Services, Kaiser Permanente, the Department of Health, the Maui Wildfires Disaster Case Management Program, Child and Family Services and the Stephen A. Cohen Military Family Clinic.

Members in the gallery who were part of the Air Force Reserve Command were asked to rise and were recognized; members on the chamber floor were also asked to rise to be recognized. Representative Peart was asked to proceed with the certificate and lay presentation to allow members to meet and congratulate the honorees; the chair then called a brief recess for that purpose.
