The Sloth Athlon triathlon will follow with a month-long participation window, and Heritage Days is planned for the week of September 6–13 with primary activities on September 12–13; Heritage Days programming will kick off with "Coyote Tales" on September 6.
Community garden and park infrastructure: The city is installing a culinary water line for the community garden adjacent to Desert Rose; Mark said the culinary-water hookup was expected in the week following the meeting and that garden plots were assigned and active. A master gardener and volunteers have been preparing beds and the city plans to announce additional available plots shortly.
Fundraising and ADA equipment: Mark said the youth council and community fundraising had raised more than $17,000 from about 94 donors and that staff would submit a grant application seeking a $35,000 award to purchase an ADA-accessible swing set. If awarded, construction of the swing would likely be a fall project.
The council thanked staff for the report and asked about grant timing and next steps; staff said they expected award notifications in mid-summer and would schedule installation thereafter if successful.
