Interim Superintendent Laura Cortez said the district has "the best and the brightest" staff and that the midyear results create a roadmap for deeper work. She and other cabinet members described targeted actions underway: focused lesson studies, coaching for teachers, expanded use of math and reading intervention platforms, and additional support for English learners such as instructional aides and ELD training.
The district reported reclassification gains for English learners in recent years: 62 students reclassified in an earlier year and 90 reclassifications the most recent year; the district set a public reclassification celebration for April 23. Staff said they are coordinating coaching, professional development and progress monitoring with targeted supports for sites with the largest performance gaps.
