Norwood Chamber presents modest 2025 budget, proposes dues increase and outlines local events

Becky, representing the Norwood Chamber of Commerce, presented the chamber’s 2024 expenditures and a projected 2025 budget at the March 7 Lodging Tax Panel meeting. The chamber plans a modest 2025 operating budget aligned with about $10,000 in typical annual income and proposed raising business membership dues from $50 to $75 to increase revenue for business marketing and event support.
Becky said the higher 2024 revenues reflected past-due lodging-tax payments that temporarily increased available funds; that one-time bump raised 2024 receipts near $19,000, while the chamber expects recurring receipts closer to the $10,000 range.
The chamber’s planned expenditures include a beautification line for Main Street flower pots and a raw-water tap for an end-of-town planting corner, digital marketing and website maintenance (the vendor is based in Denver and recently raised its rate), and support for community events such as Noel Knight, Pioneer Day, and partnerships with the San Miguel Basin Fair and Rodeo. The Norwood Chamber also retains two Facebook pages to reach visitors and local businesses, and uses a contracted communications specialist for member outreach.
Because the chamber’s budget materials were not in the meeting packet, the panel accepted the report for inclusion in the minutes and will formally ratify or vote on the budget at the next meeting.
The chamber noted it currently has slightly more than $10,000 in cash on hand and will use the modest increase in dues revenue to fund targeted business marketing.
