Council approves pipeline modernization amendments to clear streets and require coordination on traffic impacts

Holden also said a different company — identified in the meeting as Stalker Oil — will be the new franchise owner of the pipeline once the work moves forward. Councilmember Ridley-Thomas and Councilmember Padilla introduced or sponsored coordination language to ensure city departments consider traffic impacts on La Cienega and Rodeo and to coordinate with the Bureau of Street Services and the Board of Public Works.
Ridley-Thomas specifically called for departments to be fully aware of and to mitigate traffic impacts to residents and businesses; he said coordination would help align the proposed pipeline work with the ESYS project and other street projects. The council recorded an 11-0 vote to approve the amending motions together.
The motions instruct city departments to coordinate construction and traffic control planning, and to expedite necessary franchise or franchise-transfer steps so pipeline work and street resurfacing can proceed with minimized disruption. Specific implementation details and schedules were not provided at the dais and will be handled by the implementing departments.
