SARTELL, Minn. — The Sartell-St. Stephen School Board discussed scheduling a board self-evaluation facilitated by MSBA (referred to in the meeting as SBSE/SPSE) and agreed to pursue a facilitated session during an April meeting; the facilitator's fee and survey timeline were also described.
Trisha told the board she had been in contact with a facilitator (referred to as Dale) and with Katie Pondrude, who provides related onboarding and expectations work. The facilitator offered a virtual workshop and asked that the board complete a pre-work survey quickly; Trisha said the facilitator had reserved April 3 for the district and typically allows about two and a half hours for an in-person facilitated discussion.
The facilitator's fees were stated during the meeting: $1,095 for virtual facilitation and $1,395 for an in-person visit. Trisha told members the facilitator recommended starting with the facilitated self-evaluation (SBSE) so the district could compare 2024 responses with the 2025 results and use the workshop as an onboarding tool for the newest board member.
Board members discussed whether the board would need additional sessions after the facilitated workshop, with Trisha and others noting that the facilitator would provide an overview report and a summary of agreements and follow-up steps. Board members did not take a formal vote to contract the facilitator at this meeting but indicated they were agreeable to proceed and expected staff to circulate the survey instructions and links once the facilitator confirmed the dates.
Ending: The board directed staff to proceed with the evaluation process and to circulate the facilitator's survey links and instructions once available; no contract was signed at the meeting.
