County approves conversion of maintenance operator to senior maintenance operator

Director Jeff Fuller told the board the conversion followed an internal move: a senior maintenance operator was shifting to a part-time role and the county wished to retain that individual's current pay rate. Fuller said the vacated position had already been backfilled with a new hire at the senior level.
"That has been backfilled with a new hire as a senior maintenance," Fuller said when asked how the county would fill the role being vacated.
Commissioners were told the conversion yields savings this year and in the next fiscal year. After brief questions about the incumbent and the backfill, a motion to approve the conversion carried on a unanimous vote.
The meeting record did not specify an effective date for the conversion or the exact annual dollar value of the projected savings.
