The Jenks Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve a specific-use permit (SUP) allowing an assembly use — a church — to lease and build out about 1,219 square feet of retail/ground-floor space at 90 Sixth Street (also referred to as Main Street) within the Candlewood Suites development.
The commission acted after a staff report from Planning Director Ms. Hilton, who described the request as a move from an hourly event-space arrangement in the hotel to a permanent leased space. Ms. Hilton said the church has operated in the hotel’s event space for several years without creating nuisances and that the hotel owner is willing to enter a lease. "They have been there. They've been operating. They have not created any nuisances ... I recommend approval," Ms. Hilton said.
