City public works staff told the Board of Public Works that delivery of new garbage carts is underway and that about 60% of carts had been delivered as of the prior Tuesday. Staff said they expect delivery to be completed slightly ahead of schedule, potentially by the end of next week.
Staff also said the city’s new hauler, referred to in the meeting as “John’s,” is scheduled to begin picking up garbage on March 31. Waste Management is planning to collect remaining old carts through the last two weeks of March; residents who still have an old cart after the transition were asked to notify the Department of Public Works via the report-of-concern form or by email so the city can coordinate with Waste Management.
In addition, staff listed several planned bid closings and large projects, noting the 2025 asphalt street resurfacing project, an Area 7 flood mitigation project and the Clean Water Plant Phase 3 improvements are expected to have bid closings on March 14. Staff asked residents to continue using existing waste-management carts until the new system’s pickup start date.
The board noted the items for the record and adjourned.
