Votes at a glance: Lombard board approves consent agenda, contracts, zoning items and union agreement

At its March 6 meeting the Village of Lombard Board of Trustees approved the consent agenda and multiple ordinances, contracts and grant recommendations covering payroll and accounts payable, zoning map adoption, text amendments, development conditional uses, construction contracts, tourism grants and a labor agreement.

Key consent and separately noticed actions approved by the board included:

- Approval of accounts payable and payroll: accounts payable of $1,938,076.67 (period ending 02/21/2025), payroll $1,037,422.15 (period ending 02/22/2025), and additional accounts payable $760,648.77 (period ending 02/28/2025).

- Ordinances and zoning: first-reading waiver for an ordinance amending village code on solid-waste collection rates (effective 04/02/2025); adoption of the Village of Lombard official zoning map (no zoning changes; graphic update); plan commission recommendations including a drive-through accessory to a restaurant at 505 West Roosevelt Road (conditional use), variances to preserve existing site conditions, and a smoking establishment at 1210 Finley Road subject to compliance with the Illinois Smoke-Free Act and off-site parking provisions.

- Contracts and projects: approval of a resident engineering services contract with Thomas Engineering Group (amount not to exceed $409,573.84); award of the Lombard Meadows Phase 4 construction contract to John Yuri Construction Inc. (low bid $3,598,123.35); and authorization for joint gasoline/diesel purchases through Al Warren Oil Company with specified per-gallon delivery fees tied to OPIS pricing.

- Tourism grants and community events: approvals of multiple local tourism grant requests drawn from hotel-motel funds, including Prairie State cycling series ($10,000 plus village services), Lombard Historical Society food truck social ($4,075), Spooktacular (Lombard Area Chamber, $10,000 inclusive of village services), and a chamber winter event ($2,000 plus village services).

- Other items: acknowledgement of the Historic Preservation Commission 2024 annual report; approval for the Village to participate in the Illinois Municipal League for FY2025 ($2,500); a Finance Committee recommendation to suspend waterfall transfers to pension and economic development fund reserves for 2024–2026; and approval of a collective bargaining agreement between the Village and Lombard Firefighters Union Local 3009 covering Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2028.

All consent and listed items were approved by roll-call vote at the meeting.
