Planning commission approves final plats for Fire Station No. 2 and Costco, and a Burger King site plan

Staff said the plat conforms to the city’s zoning and subdivision ordinances and recommended approval. The commission approved the final plat by voice vote.
Burger King site plan: The commission approved a site plan for a drive-through restaurant located north of South FM 548 and FM 741. The plan shows a single‑story, 2,800-square-foot building with fiber cement panel and brick exterior materials and 30 parking spaces. Staff said the parking count meets the local requirement (one space per 100 square feet for restaurants) and recommended approval. The commission approved the site plan.
Costco Forney final plat: The commission approved the final plat establishing the FM 460 parcel north of U.S. Highway 80. Staff said the plat complies with the subdivision ordinance and local government code and recommended approval. A commissioner asked staff about the applicant’s FEMA floodplain mitigation work; staff responded the grading plan for mitigation is expected to begin as part of the project’s civil work.
All three items were approved by the commission during the meeting; staff will continue to coordinate engineering and permitting details with the applicants.
