The DeKalb County Operations Committee voted to defer consideration of a substitute to amend the Board of Commissioners’ 2025 regular business and committee calendar.
Staff presented a substitute that would change several meeting dates and start times: the Board of Commissioners meeting scheduled Thursday, April 3 (5 p.m.) would move to Thursday, April 3 at 9 a.m.; the Committee of the Whole originally scheduled Tuesday, July 1 at 9 a.m. would move to Thursday, June 26 at 9 a.m.; the Committee of the Whole scheduled Thursday, September 4 at 9 a.m. would move to Thursday, August 28 at 9 a.m.; and a Committee of the Whole meeting set for Tuesday, June 3 would be moved to Tuesday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m. with public comment starting at 6:30 p.m. Staff also indicated the October 7 meeting would be moved from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with public comment at 6:30 p.m.
Several commissioners asked for more time to review the proposed changes and requested the presiding officer explain the rationale at the next committee meeting. A motion to defer the substitute to the next Operations Committee meeting (agenda availability noted for 03/18 as a possible ops meeting) passed by voice vote. Staff was asked to notify all commissioners that the item is being moved to the next ops meeting so questions can be addressed in advance.
No formal action on calendar dates occurred at the meeting; the item will return to the committee for further discussion and possible vote.
