Vandiver County solid waste board approves 2025 collection contracts, extends composting study agreement

The Vandiver County Solid Waste Management District Board approved a set of 2025 contracts and an extension to a professional services agreement during a brief meeting on Jan. 14, 2025.
The board voted to approve the minutes from its Jan. 14, 2025 meeting and to authorize a 2025 household hazardous waste collection contract with Environmental Enterprises. Staff said the contract covers two collection events this year: a spring collection on March 29 at the Roberts Stadium parking lot from 8 a.m. to noon, and a fall event tentatively scheduled for Sept. 6 with the location to be either Roberts Stadium or the Civic Center parking lot.
Staff asked the board for permission to sign occasional rental or quote agreements needed to support event logistics; a staff member asked, “Are you all okay that if I go ahead and sign it, sometimes I can’t give it to the board …?” and the board indicated no objection.
The board also approved an extension of its electronics-recycling agreement with C and I Electronics to permit a spring collection on April 12 at CNI’s facility on Ingle Field Road. Staff said fall dates remain to be determined and that staff may return later in the year with an amendment or additional extension to cover those dates.
The board approved a second amendment to its professional services agreement with GT Environmental to extend the term through July 31 to allow engineers to finish vetting a proposed composting site and complete related investigation work. Staff said the amendment does not change the study’s cost and that the firm hopes to deliver the study in March and present it at the board’s May meeting.
The accounts payable voucher for payment was reviewed and approved by voice vote.
