County engineering staff briefed the board on several road maintenance and construction items.
CR‑185 patch: Staff presented an interlocal agreement with Geneva County (or a neighboring county road crew) to patch holes on County Road 185 and asked the board to authorize signing the agreement and to allocate road-maintenance materials as needed. The board approved a motion to authorize the agreement and to use the county’s road‑maintenance materials as requested by the district superintendent.
Hathaway Mill curve: Commissioners raised safety concerns after multiple fender benders on a sharp curve at Hathaway Mill Road. Engineering said sight-lines and vegetation are constrained and that the county lacks right‑of‑way to widen the corner. Staff and a commissioner agreed to revisit the site, to contact the adjacent landowner about vegetation and to return with practical options (additional signage, selective tree removal if permitted, or minor reconstruction including a 2‑way stop if feasible).
Chipley project and DOT millings: Staff described a supplemental construction agreement (DOT-funded change order) for a chip‑seal/milling project and said contractors are mobilizing; the board confirmed prior agreements and progress updates from the pre-construction meeting.
Ending: Staff will return with a Hathaway Mill curve plan and will file the signed CR‑185 agreement so patching can begin per the district schedule.
