Malia Collins presented proposed edits to rental policies for the Fire Mesa Kitchen and the Bluff Community Center (CCC) at the June 10 work session and asked for council guidance on several operational points including chair/table use, audio‑visual deposits and storage for kitchenware and food.
Collins noted repeated renter questions about whether tables and chairs are included with a Fire Mesa Kitchen or pavilion rental and proposed either charging a modest additional fee for use or purchasing a dedicated set of outdoor‑suitable folding chairs. Councilmembers discussed a suggested fee figure ($40) for renting tables/chairs and asked staff to formalize the number for the fee schedule. Collins proposed removing an audio‑visual deposit requirement because it complicates processing; councilmembers suggested instead storing AV equipment in a controlled location and lending it by request.
On kitchen membership and storage, Collins asked whether members should be allowed to store kitchenware or food in locked cabinets. Several councilmembers suggested locked storage by agreement or as a membership perk, and staff said lockers or locked cabinets could be provided and tied to membership or a small additional fee.
Collins asked to defer formal changes on fee waivers and donation policy until the June 17 meeting so council can review redlined documents and proposed fee schedule updates. The council agreed; staff will circulate the redlines in advance and present the fee changes at the next meeting.
