Hubbardston library director reports circulation, program attendance and summer events

The Hubbardston Library director reported monthly statistics for May and outlined upcoming programs and events for trustees.
In May the director reported 1 curbside pickup and 300 total patrons. Programming numbers included three story-time sessions with a combined 32 adults and 46 children (78 total), two Dungeons & Dragons sessions with 25 attendees and 10 classes for students. Volunteers logged 9.5 hours in the month; the senior book club had one attendee at its May meeting, while a newly formed adult book club recorded 15 attendees at its first gathering and later grew to about 24 people expressing interest.
Circulation and digital access numbers reported by the director included total items circulated (regardless of location) of 1,656 and 1,727 items circulated at Hubbardston (regardless of ownership). The library reported 108 requested holds, 1,450 patrons registered at Hubbardston and a total catalog of 11,383 items. OverDrive checkouts for May were 797, and holds on OverDrive totaled 399 (158 e-audio, 241 e-books). Website and social metrics: the library reported 541 website visits, Facebook reach of about 135, Instagram reach around 40 and 196 followers on social platforms; the director noted the most-viewed Facebook post was about the new book club.
Barbera noted the library was closed on May 24 and May 26 for the Memorial Day holiday and that the senior-center art show in the library basement on May 10 drew a steady stream of visitors though no precise headcount was recorded. She said finances were not fully updated in the packet because the town has a new accountant and year-end figures were forthcoming.
Upcoming events listed in the director's report included the senior book club on June 25 at 11 a.m. at the senior center (7 Main Street), a library book club meeting on June 23 and the summer-reading kickoff with an ice-cream truck on June 25. The library director also reported a new storybook-trail project and ongoing work on a new ADA-accessible path.
