Kyle reported construction on a nearly three-mile trail segment connecting Monroe Avenue to the eastern county border and said nearly $3 million in grants and donations have been secured for that project; he also described Tuck-pointing and roof work at the Armory and upcoming bids for tennis/pickleball court renovations and Cascades design work.
Emily previewed the county fair in August, listing grandstand and free-ground activities, new theme days, a new agricultural playground that opened for a soft launch, and free parking supported by two sponsors. She said the fair expects about 4,800 exhibitors and that fundraisers such as a winter beer festival support premium payouts.
Kyle updated the committee on the Cascades restoration campaign, noting $3.5 million remains to reach the fundraising goal and that the campaign is more than 50% toward the target; he said work includes concrete restoration, plumbing and pump-house upgrades.
The committee voted unanimously to receive the parks and fair updates; commissioners thanked staff for outreach and new programming.
