During the May 27 public comment period, Mojte Mignot identified herself as the owner of 305 West Main Street in Brighton and told the council that work on a neighboring three-story development has caused damage to her building and created trespass and debris concerns.
Mignot said she called the city building department on April 23 seeking the project superintendent's contact information after work on the adjacent site caused indenting to a recently installed gutter. She said the city's community development clerk called back but did not provide a contact name or phone number. "I know that this is not a city's job, to directly protect the building from a neighbor's debris and trespassing, but it is, I believe, the job of the the city to protect other, business owner from, the development that they have okayed and allowed," Mignot said.
Mignot said she later drove to the site and found contractor information posted on a window, and she provided printed photo copies to the clerk at the meeting. Council and staff asked clarifying questions during liaison updates, and a city staff member said staff would make contact. At 12:00 a.m. council noted that staff will follow up directly with Mignot to address her concerns.
The comment was received during the call-to-the-public portion of the meeting; no formal action or referral was recorded on the meeting minutes other than a staff commitment to follow up with the speaker.
