Hanover Area board approves resolution authorizing purchase of 50 Commerce Drive for new elementary center

The Hanover Area School District Board of Education approved a resolution on May 22, 2025, authorizing the district to purchase 50 Commerce Drive for its consolidated elementary center and to complete closing on June 2, 2025.

Board attorney Mark Buffalino presented a late request from the closing agent and read a resolution authorizing the purchase and appointing district representatives to sign closing documents. The resolution authorized Superintendent Nathan Barrett, Director of Administration Dr. Kopko and Board President Stevens to be signatories on the closing documents, Buffalino said.

The board moved to consider the resolution under the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act’s allowance for items that arrived within 24 hours. A motion to accept the resolution carried on a roll‑call vote; the board president announced, "Number 4 carries."

Later in the meeting board leaders said the district had signed a bond agreement and reaffirmed that the closing is scheduled for June 2, 2025. Officials said the elementary consolidation is part of a multi‑year plan to address aging elementary facilities and district capacity.

The resolution was presented as an item added to the meeting packet on short notice at the request of the closing agent; the board accepted consideration and approved it by roll call.
