Staff said the hazardous conditions warrant immediate abatement; if the city pays for cleanup, it will place a lien on the property to recover costs and may pursue lien foreclosure proceedings if necessary.
Councilor Tyler thanked city staff and the city manager for taking action on the property, saying he could not imagine living next to the house and praising staff’s work to address the hazardous conditions. The governing body approved R‑58 by roll call vote.
The resolution gives staff the authority to require removal or repair of ruined buildings, structures, rubbish, wreckage, weeds and debris at the specified address, subject to owner notice and the 10‑day period for compliance or for the owner to request a hearing.
