Committee forwards three FAA AIP grant applications for taxiway and runway work totaling about $4.81 million
Summary
Bangor staff told the committee they applied for three Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program grants—approximately $480,000 for taxiways, $4.3 million for runway rehabilitation and $31,000 for runway pavement edge/taxi indicator work—and the committee voted to forward the ratification to the full City Council for approval.

City staff reported on three Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grant applications that were submitted because application deadlines did not align with committee meeting dates.
Staff described the applications as: a federal share of about $480,000 for rehabilitation of Taxiway A and Taxiway M; an approximately $4,300,000 runway rehabilitation application; and a $31,000 application for runway pavement/taxi indicator work. Staff explained that AIP projects are planned through a five-year capital-improvement plan and that the funds are allocated via that process, but the city must still submit timely applications and sign grant agreements once available.
A councilor moved and seconded that the committee forward ratification of the manager’s AIP grant applications to the full City Council. The motion carried without objection and will be placed on the council agenda; staff said grant agreements are likely to be available in August or September because of federal processing timelines.
