Sigurdtown council moves to twice‑monthly meetings; approves subdivision, equipment and communications purchases

The Sigurdtown Council voted on Feb. 5 to hold work meetings at 6 p.m. followed by regular council meetings at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.

The move to twice‑monthly meetings, proposed to shorten delays on time‑sensitive items and allow a separate, public work session with no citizen comment, was discussed at length before the council approved a motion to change the schedule. Council members said the new cadence should help staff and elected officials act faster on grants, infrastructure and other projects.

In addition to changing its meeting schedule, the council approved several agenda items: the Cedar Ridge subdivision with the design and concrete stipulations discussed at the meeting; the purchase of two used arena “bucket chutes” from the Blackhawk Commission for $3,000 total; and a $500 expenditure to purchase a fire‑department communications application to replace the town’s current paging/dispatch setup.
