Staff noted a roughly 40-acre parcel near 300 South that could host multiple fields and facilities but is constrained by railroad crossing access and county-level issues. Council discussed pursuing a land swap with private owners or other options to secure suitable land for larger park facilities. Separately, staff flagged the state outdoors grant program, which this year lists court surfaces and skate parks as eligible items; council asked staff to consider applying for pickleball courts or related amenities in 2025, and to schedule planning and potential grant application work.
Staff said they will continue planning, seek grant opportunities, and return with more detailed project proposals and budget options for council review.
