Summit County Council appoints members to fire, recreation and cemetery boards

The Summit County Council on Feb. 25 approved multiple appointments to local service boards after interviewing candidates earlier in the meeting. The council adopted resolutions to appoint members to the North Summit Fire Service District administrative board, the Snyderville Basin Special Recreation Service District administrative control board and the Snyderville Basin Cemetery District board of trustees.
The appointments give North Summit Fire new administrative-board members, fill two seats on the Snyderville Basin Recreation board and reappoint two trustees to the Snyderville Basin Cemetery District. Council discussion and candidate interviews for the Snyderville Basin Recreation and Cemetery boards took place during the meeting; applicants described experience in nonprofit boards, local uses of field-house facilities and cemetery planning.
Summit County moved and approved the following appointments (voice votes recorded as "aye"; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the public transcript): North Summit Fire Service District — appointment of Corey Blomquist (term to expire 12/31/2027); Steve Dallin and Louise Willoughby were also listed in the packet as appointees for terms to expire 12/31/2027. Snyderville Basin Special Recreation Service District — appointments of Melissa Scofield and Andrew Choate, terms to expire 12/31/2028. Snyderville Basin Cemetery District — reappointments of Max Greenhall and William Oshinsky, terms to expire 12/31/2028.
Council members conducted candidate interviews before voting. Applicants for the Snyderville Basin Recreation board described volunteer and professional experience and discussed key issues such as managing trail and field-house use, budgeting and the tradeoffs involved in bonding for new facilities. Applicants to the cemetery board discussed locating and planning a community cemetery and said stakeholder outreach and an operations plan are next steps if the preferred site proceeds.
The formal actions were made by motion and approved by the council during the meeting; the public record shows motions and unanimous voice approvals but does not include individual roll-call vote counts.
The appointments take effect immediately as indicated in the council packet; staff will notify applicants of the council decisions.
