Clearfield County commissioners and the county salary board approved a series of routine personnel and contracting actions during their Jan. 28 meetings, including hiring bonuses for two new adult probation officers, a temporary pay increase for the assistant director of elections, and a grant agreement for the district attorney's office.
The salary board approved hiring bonuses of $2,500 per new hire for two adult probation officer positions, to be paid in installments. Judge Ammerman said the county will be reimbursed for the bonuses "through the probation office supervision money," and the motion was amended on the record to reflect that reimbursement source before being approved.
Comptroller Edwards presented bills totaling $419,639.79 for approval; the board voted to approve the bills as presented. The board also approved listed personnel changes, including several new hires and separations, and accepted the personnel report.
Other actions approved by the board included: - A monthly pay increase of $400 for the assistant director of elections, effective January 2025, while she performs the director's duties. The board approved the motion after members said she had assumed additional responsibilities. - An agreement with PROCAT (court reporter equipment) for replacement equipment used by the county court reporter; the cost was represented as less than $5,000 and included in the budget. - A grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for $42,000 to cover security upgrades in the district attorney's office; the solicitor said the grant required no local match. - Appointment of Brian Owens to the Solid Waste Authority to fill an outstanding vacancy. - A purchase-of-service agreement with Peoples R Us for Children & Youth Services to support a specialized placement, with transportation terms adapted for that provider.
All motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote as recorded at the meeting. No roll-call tallies with individual yes/no votes were read into the record.
