Davy said site visits and conversations with school administrators suggested a recurring need for staff or dedicated spaces to support community-building, and proposed a committee that would investigate those needs and make recommendations. "I would, like to propose, an ad hoc committee, to look at community and cultures, within our schools and our district," Trustee Davy said during the board discussion.
Board leadership responded that the idea could be brought forward and refined at the board retreat scheduled for the following day. The chair noted the district already has standing committees such as budget-and-levy and facilities (referenced under board policy 12-30) and invited trustees to discuss whether to establish the proposed ad hoc committee as a priority.
Vice Chair Walker Andrews suggested trustees use materials from MTSBA and consider attending the upcoming Education Day at the Capitol; the chair said committee-priority discussion can be added to the retreat agenda.
No formal motion to create the ad hoc committee was recorded; trustees agreed to consider Davy’s proposal during retreat deliberations.
