Board signs first amendment to CDBG SSM road agreement to extend project and administrative contract

Garrett Nordstrom of Government Assistance Services briefed commissioners on an amendment to the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) agreement for the SSM road project. The amendment formalizes a budget change submitted by the county in November that increases the scope of the road work so the county can maximize grant funds.
Nordstrom explained bids for the first part of the work came in lower than expected, leaving a remainder of the grant funds. The amendment will allow that remaining CDBG money to be applied to an additional section of roadway (up to Twentieth Road) instead of returning the funds to the state. The county's share will cover roughly half of the extension, with the rest paid by the CDBG allocation, county staff said.
Commissioner McCurry moved and Commissioner Peterson seconded a motion to authorize the chairman to sign the first amendment to grant award number 23-IND-001 and the contract for administrative services on the SSM economic development project; the motion carried by voice vote. Commissioners instructed staff to scan and circulate signed documents to the board.
