Public Works Director Mr. Stewart told the council the parcels were created after the city purchased 61.06 acres earlier in 2024 and completed a partition (recorded as partition plat 2024‑P33226 / reception number 2024‑037580). The resolution covers Parcel 2 (described as a roughly 4‑acre parcel designed for multifamily housing) and Parcel 3 (about 15.21 acres intended for single‑family homes). Stewart said staff anticipates approximately one year to complete required land‑use approvals with Lane County before sale terms are finalized.
The resolution declares the parcels surplus and directs staff to prepare sale documentation, which could include retaining a licensed agent to market the property or drafting a purchase and sale agreement for council approval following a required public hearing. Stewart said exhibits labeling the parcels (Exhibit A and Exhibit B) were added to corrected resolution paperwork before the mayor signed.
Councilors voted by roll call in favor of the resolution; the motion carried unanimously. Stewart and council members characterized the step as the first of a two‑step sale process: (1) formal surplus declaration by resolution; and (2) a public hearing on proposed sale terms before a purchase and sale agreement is approved.
