Student representatives report end-of-term finals, concerts and activities across district schools

Student representatives at the Rapid City Area School District 51-4 meeting reported on end-of-term activities, upcoming finals and school events.
Ms. Orientos, student representative from Rapid City Alternative Academy, said 11 learners were on track to meet graduation requirements by the end of the quarter and reminded the board about an all-school assembly and a districtwide food pantry event run by Feeding South Dakota. She noted the Rushmore Rotary Club will announce first-semester students of distinction and urged the community to watch school media for details.
A student representative from Central High School reported that semester finals begin the next day, that the jazz band and student clubs held performances and service activities, and that the school's debate and athletic teams had recent competitive results. The rep congratulated student-athletes recognized in regional awards and noted upcoming concerts and basketball games.
Stevens High School student representatives said semester finals will be held Wednesday through Friday of the week, highlighted a winter concert at Milo Winter Auditorium, and described student-lead proposals such as a children’s book drive, requests for new orchestra chairs and courtyard improvements. The Stevens rep also noted the Parent Advisory Committee meeting for Title VI Indian Education and recognized teacher Nick Rotella as the week's teacher spotlight.
Board members asked clarifying questions about dates and timing and thanked the student reps for their reports.
